Kindergarten and 1st Grade

Audrey Lareau is a native Californian who grew up near a salt marsh by the beautiful San Francisco peninsula bay lands. As a child she spent her free time digging in the backyard mud for worms, observing spiders, befriending backyard squirrels, searching for caterpillars in corn silk, and rescuing stray or injured animals. Audrey got her first babysitting job when she was thirteen, and has been working with children ever since.

As an undergraduate at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Audrey majored in Environmental Studies and Education with the goal of combining her passion for wilderness with her love of working with children. Shortly after graduating she began working at a non-profit school specializing in children with severe physical and health impairments. This led Audrey to begin her graduate studies in Special Education at San Francisco State University.

In the summer of 2010 Audrey’s passion for nature was renewed at Headwaters Outdoor School, where she attended their Wilderness Skills, Nature Awareness, and Nature Philosophy classes. She then went on to apprentice at Tender Tracks Tails & Trails, an outdoor immersion preschool, in 2011 and 2012 with the oh-so-magical Wendolyn Bird. In 2013 she participated in the 8 Shields Immersion course, followed by two years with the Weaving Earth Immersion program. She is thrilled that her journey has now led her to join the PCCS community!
